Redirections test

What is it?

This test identifies redirections, i.e. where visiting a URL redirects to another URL.

Why it matters

Redirections are hard to identify manually and often need updating or maintaining, especially when replacing a website with a new version. This test makes it easy to identify what redirections are in place.

How to use it

Insites lists all redirections in a table. For each redirection, you can see:

  • Web address – the web address that when visited, redirects.
  • Redirects to – the web address that it redirects to.
  • HTTP – the HTTP status code for the redirection. Note that some pages which use JavaScript redirections may not have a HTTP code.
  • Last checked – when the link was last checked.

You may wish to export the list of redirections into a spreadsheet.
